The Taurus Attached Processor (TAP) product line uses one of the fastestRISC processors from Intel. The Intel i860 is designed for realtimeinformation processing applications. The V860 Multiprocessor Based onIntel i860 brings the advantage of its high-speed reflective sharedmemory bus, called the Virtual Shared Memory Interconnect, which enablesintegration of up to 480 processors. Taurus' Real-Time Executive (TREx)is an extension of Intel's Attached Processor Executive (APX) implementedon SunOS for supporting multiple V860s. TREx provides SVR4 compatibilityand a transparent i860 software development environment. The V860compilers run on the V860 in a native mode so users have the flexibilityof using any host CPU.
